Meet Jen Brown, RN

Jen Brown is a registered nurse with over 23 years of experience. Before founding Nurse Pop-Ins in 2022, she served as the assisted living administrator of Alabama Oaks and its sister communities.

That means Jen has seen senior living from both sides:

  • As a nurse, she understands diagnoses, medications, mobility, fall risk, dementia progression, and what "level of care" really means day to day.
  • As an administrator, she knows how communities actually run — staffing, licensing, admissions, care plans, move-in readiness, and what questions reveal how a community performs after the tour is over.

Jen founded Nurse Pop-Ins to put that experience to work for families who are often making these decisions quickly and for the first time.

Why a nurse and former administrator makes a difference

Many senior placement services are staffed by salespeople without clinical or administrator experience. They can share a list of communities, but they may not be able to tell you whether a community can truly meet your loved one's medical and memory care needs.

Jen's hands-on background helps families in practical ways:

  • Matching care needs, not just openings. Jen helps assess level-of-care needs so families tour communities that can realistically support their loved one — today and as needs change.
  • Knowing what to ask. She knows the questions administrators expect (and the ones they don't): staffing ratios, medication management, nursing oversight, memory care programming, and how families are kept informed.
  • Reading between the lines on tours. Having run communities herself, Jen looks beyond the lobby to the details that affect daily life.
  • Honest guidance. If a community isn't a good fit, or a timeline isn't realistic, Jen will say so.
  • Calm help in a crisis. After a hospital stay or a sudden change, Jen helps families sort out next steps and prioritize tours when timing is tight.

In short: sales-only placement firms can point you toward options. Jen can help you understand which options actually fit.
